Workshops, Partners & Activities

For this year's Snow Peak Way, we're collaborating with a number of PNW-based partners to bring the region's spirit to life. From local coffee roasters to candle makers, a birdwatching guide, and a specialty happy hour – we know campers will love this year's offerings! Read on to learn more about what to expect at Snow Peak Way.

Deadstock Coffee: The sneaker-loving coffee experts at Deadstock are bringing their snob-free approach to beans to the SPW campfield. Deadstock Co-Founder Ian Williams will show campers how to make a delicious cup of coffee using a Snow Peak set up and offer a guide to roasting their coffee using the Snow Peak Home & Camp Burner. An assortment of Deadstock beverages will be available at the Café!

Yo Soy Candle: Yo Soy Candle is a handmade, eco-conscious, affirmation candle and apparel company based in Portland, Oregon, owned and operated by Leslie Abrams. Leslie will join us at Snow Peak Way, offering candle making classes centered on mindfulness and intention setting.

Birdwatching with John Connors and Swarovski Opik: Naturalist and biologist John Connors has spent his life and career educating others on wildlife, especially birds. He's the former president of the North Carolina Audubon Society, served as the City Naturalist in Raleigh, NC, and was a Curator for the Naturalist Center at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.  John will lead campers in an introductory workshop to bird watching, teaching attendees how to spot and ID birds, use Swarovski Optik binoculars, and other best practices. Then, for part two, he'll lead campers on a short hike around the site to put their newfound birdwatching skills to the test!

Snow Peak Layout System Demo: Throughout the weekend, our team of gear experts will demonstrate setup and disassembly of Snow Peak shelters, tarps and tents. Campers will learn tips and tricks for a seamless setup process so they can create their dream outdoor scene with confidence.

Takibi Happy Hour & Workshop with Jim Meehan: We’re excited to welcome Snow Peak’s Beverage Director Jim Meehan to Snow Peak Way! Our favorite mixologist will host a happy hour featuring a variety of beverages as well as a workshop focused on his craft.

Matta: Inspired by the viet kieu (foreign-born Vietnamese person) experience, Matta creates each dish from a memory that influenced the lives of founders Richard and Sophia. They serve Vietnamese food done through an American lens, and American food done through Vietnamese eyes. Matta will offer food demos at Snow Peak Way for a tasty experience centered on an IGT setup.

Mizuba Tea: We're pleased to welcome our friends at Mizuba Tea back to Snow Peak Way! Mizuba Tea offers pure and organic matcha sourced from 100-year-old family matcha tea manufacturer in the Uji region of Japan. Mizuba Tea Founder Lauren Dansen will lead tea-making demonstrations and offer a sampling of Mizuba's delicious matcha. Matcha and tea will also be available at the Café and Bar.

In addition to our partner-hosted workshops, there will be other activities available to campers each day. Snow Peak will host shibori tie-dyeing, titanium anodizing, plus a number of arts and crafts for campers of all ages.  The expansive site offers plentiful possibilities for exploration, and campers are encouraged to hike around the area or simply relax in the fields adjacent to the freshwater springs near the property's entrance.

Finally, Snow Peak Way is unique for its traditions and community moments, and this year is no different! Campers are invited to join the Opening & Closing Ceremonies, nightly Takibi Time, and the competitive Paper Airplane Contest! There will also be ample opportunities for connection at the Café and Bar, as well as the General Store.
