Awaken to the sweet scent of French toast sizzling on the camp stove. This take on the classic dish is a simplified family recipe shared by Brand Manager Mike Andersen. Try it for yourself and make it even better by pairing your toast with bacon and a hot cup of coffee.
- 10 slices of Texas Toast or Brioche
- Granulated sugar
- 8 Eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Fresh lemon
- Additional butter and syrup for serving
In a bowl, crack and beat eggs until blended. Add the heavy cream, sugar, melted butter and vanilla. Stir to combine. Cut the bread into thick slices then coat thoroughly in the egg mixture. Place on a griddle over medium heat. Cook for 5-6 minutes on each side before flipping. Serve each slice with a generous sprinkling of powdered sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice or take a more traditional approach and enjoy with butter and maple syrup.
