Nothing pairs with Takibi Time like a toasted s'more. Our new friends at 1927 S'mores Co. have perfected this campfire delicacy – and we're excited to welcome them to the blog to share their story! Don't miss your chance to test their tasty artisan s'mores - find three flavors to choose from in our recent Winter Festival release.
How did 1927 S'mores Co. get its start? What's behind the name?
In 2015, James & Elise Kelly had an idea for handcrafted, torch-fired s'mores in different flavors using quality ingredients. To test the "gourmet s'mores" concept, the couple started as a sidewalk s'mores cart on NW 23rd in Portland, Oregon. Our brand name comes from the year the Girl Scouts published the first known s'mores recipe when it first appeared in their Spring of '27 "Tramping & Trailing" newsletter.
Can you share about 1927 S'mores connection to the foster care system?
The Kellys have fostered five children and adopted 3 of them over the last five years. In the past, our brand has donated funds & products to Portland-specific foster youth nonprofit organizations. Our goal as a brand is to invest in foster youth in every city we do business in. It is a big reason why we do what we do!
Can you share about 1927 S'mores’ approach to ingredients? Any seasonal specialties for the holidays?
Our goal at 1927 S'mores Company is to use the finest ingredients available to us. Current brand partners include Jacobsen Honey, Bob's Red Mill flours, Water Avenue Coffee, Smith Tea, and Jasmine Pearl Tea Company, among many others. We are excited to bring back our infamous Peppermint S'more this holiday, and make sure to keep your eye out for another fun seasonal flavor that is on the way!
