Fall Camping Guide

There’s much to love about fall and shoulder season camping – from quieter campgrounds and fewer bugs to crisp nights and changing leaves. As nature prepares for its winter rest, autumn takes a slower pace that can offer a reprieve from the busy summer season. Fall can also bring unexpected weather and chillier nights, so a bit of extra preparation is necessary. There’s no better time for cozy layers, crackling campfires and hearty meals that warm you from the inside out. With the right gear and planning, fall might become your favorite camping season!

Tent/Shelter

Don’t let unpredictable weather dampen your fun. With a tent and tarp combination or a spacious shelter, you can enjoy the peaceful sounds of rain from warm, covered comfort. The newer Land Nest Shelter is a perfect choice for fall, offering a spacious interior for a covered gathering space. Add the inner tent for a private sleeping area. The Land Nest Dome series and its matching tarp are another well-suited choice for autumn excursions. The simple setup will ensure you have shelter quickly, and the tarp docks nicely onto the tent for seamless protection from the elements. With cooler days ahead, we’d suggest adding the Mat & Sheet Sets for additional insulation.

Sleep

The key to a restful night’s sleep outdoors is a reliable sleeping setup. Insulate yourself from the ground with an inflatable mat, then top it with a cozy sleeping bag with your blanket(s) of choice. Pair the SS Single with the Compact Mat Slim and Stretch Pillow for a sleep system that will rival your bed at home. Add another layer of warmth to keep the chill at bay with the stylish Wool Jacquard Blanket. For the coldest evenings, a beanie and warm socks make a huge difference in warmth.

The Campfield Futon Set is a staple for leisurely setups, and offers multiple configurations to suit your needs. The Singe Action Table and Mesh Folding Chairs offer a do-it-all setup for eating and games.

Sunset comes early during the fall season and proper lighting is essential. Add a sense of warmth to your campsite with the Rechargeable Mini Hozuki or Hozuki Lantern.
