Portland Japanese Garden

We were fortunate enough to tour the Portland Japanese Garden before it closed due to COVID-19. The Portland Japanese Garden sits in the hills of southwest Portland, overlooking the city. The Garden was designed in 1963 and is 12 acres with 8 unique garden styles, and includes an authentic Japanese Tea House. The Garden is full of peaceful streams, strolling paths and features a beautiful view of Mt. Hood. It’s the perfect place to disconnect from modern stresses and find an inner sense of calm from nature.

During our visit, the Sakura Blossoms were beginning to bloom and the garden was lush and peaceful, with many signs of spring. In Japan, the Sakura Blossom bloom is celebrated with hanami, or flower blooming parties. Hopefully you can enjoy these photos and have a small hanami of your own.
