Campfire Japanese Sweet Potato

Hot potato! Make a sweet potato snack to share or use as a side paired with your protein of choice. It's a simple option – only four ingredients and minimal prep – that's easy enough for the whole family to participate.

Gear:

Ingredients:

  • Japanese sweet potatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Neutral oil
  • Aluminum foil

Method:

Before prepping your potatoes, start a fire in your Takibi Fire & Grill. We recommend using a coal bed to create an elevated layer of charcoal. Place your logs or briquettes on top of the Coal Bed and ignite using a Folding Torch. You're ready to cook once the logs have burned down to glowing coals or the briquettes are greyish-white. Once your fire is burning, coat each sweet potato with a thin layer of oil, then add salt and pepper. Wrap each potato in a sheet of tinfoil. Using the Fire Tool Set, Fireside Gloves, or another pair of tongs, gently place the potatoes directly onto the bed of coals. Rotate the potatoes every few minutes for about 45-60 minutes or until soft.
